Metal-free workstations
Custom laboratory systems and equipment made from high-quality plastics – perfectly tailored to demanding applications.
Our metal-free laboratory systems are specifically designed for critical applications such as trace analysis and semiconductor processes. They offer the highest level of purity through laminar airflow (cleanroom class 3), intelligent air management, and corrosion-resistant materials. Thanks to their modular design, all components can be individually customized. Cleaning and maintenance are particularly convenient – ideal for precise, safe, and efficient workflows.
Our metal-free Wet Bench features a modular design, allowing it to be precisely tailored to your processes. Product and user protection are our top priorities. Product protection is ensured by clean, particle-free working areas (cleanroom class 3 or better), while user protection is guaranteed through front-sash-controlled airflow.
The MK workstation vertical is a modular, metal-free unit designed for contamination-free sample preparation, such as in trace analysis. The head module provides filtered, laminar airflow; the middle module offers a customizable work surface with a front sash; the base module includes flexible storage. The PLC-controlled airflow complies with DIN EN 14175, with exhaust air directed either through scrubbers or directly into the system depending on the chemicals used.
The MK horizontal workstation is a modular, metal-free system for contamination-free sample processing. A PLC controls airflow, filter load, temperature, and pressure. Horizontal laminar flow ensures clean conditions. Optional: media connections, heating plates, air scrubbers, ultrapure water systems. ISO 3 compliant.
The MK Combination Station vertical is a metal-free, modular solution for contamination-free sample preparation. The station consists of two self-contained work areas with laminar airflow: the work chamber and the evaporation chamber, which are connected by a pass-through. Both chambers are composed of a head module and a middle module. The base module provides flexible storage space. Supply air is introduced into both work areas via fans or the building’s ventilation system with final filters. The vertical laminar flow is achieved through a replaceable monofilament fabric, while the air is separately extracted through a perforated floor. The system complies with DIN EN 14175; depending on the chemicals used, the exhaust air is directed through an air scrubber or directly into the ventilation system.
The system offers comprehensive features, including an individually adjustable front sash, PLC control, light curtain, temperature and pressure monitoring, as well as signal LEDs. Optional features include a pass-through, integrated PC, filling stations, underfloor rinsing, ultrasonic bath, exhaust air scrubber, and remote maintenance.
Metal-free Exhaust Station vertical with regulated exhaust airflow to protect the user when working with chemicals.
We develop tailor-made special systems such as isolators, RABS and Laminar Flow Units, as well as cleaning systems. Our flexible, durable solutions made from high-quality plastics integrate seamlessly into existing processes – whether stationary, as room-in-room concepts, or as mobile units.

Vertical or horizontal laminar flow workstations
Laminar flow Workstations for cleanrooms and laboratories
Controlled airflow is a decisive factor in cleanrooms and sensitive laboratory areas. Laminar flow ensures that air is guided uniformly over the workspace. Depending on the requirements, two variants of Workstations are used: vertical laminar flow or horizontal laminar flow. Both variants, combined with the filtration of incoming air through high-performance HEPA filters, ensure that no particles enter the workspace and contaminate sensitive processes or samples. Especially in geochemistry and semiconductor manufacturing, reliable airflow is indispensable for permanently maintaining the required cleanroom classes.
Differences between vertical and horizontal laminar flow workstations
The choice between vertical and horizontal laminar flow Workstations depends on the specific requirements within the cleanroom. In the vertical variant, filtered air flows from top to bottom into the workspace. This directs particles downward, where they are removed via specialized exhaust air systems. In the horizontal variant, however, filtered air enters on one side of the system and is directed to the exhaust on the opposite side (for example, from left to right). Both systems can be adjusted by regulating the supply and exhaust air to guarantee both product and personal protection. Depending on the workflow and processes, the appropriate solution can be selected between these two designs.
Tailor-made laminar flow systems by MK METALFREE
MK METALFREE develops individual Laminar Flow Workstations that are precisely tailored to the requirements of research and industry. Whether it is a Workstation with vertical laminar flow, a horizontal laminar flow system, or combinations with specialized testing and protection systems – every solution is planned in collaboration with the customer. The use of cleanroom-compatible equipment ensures that the systems not only meet ISO standards but also integrate seamlessly into existing processes. The modular design allows for flexible adaptation, enabling companies to respond to future requirements at any time.
Advantages of modern laminar flow technology
The use of laminar flow offers numerous advantages. In addition to reliable compliance with cleanroom systems according to ISO classes, these systems reduce the risk of contamination, extend the shelf life of sensitive products, and protect employees during critical processes. Furthermore, modern laminar flow systems are energy-efficient, easy to clean, and characterized by a long service life. Companies benefit from an investment that combines safety, efficiency, and future-proofing in a single system.
Targeted application of vertical or horizontal laminar flow
Whether vertical laminar flow or horizontal laminar flow – the right choice depends on the area of application. MK METALFREE offers tailor-made Laminar Flow Workstations that meet the highest standards, offer enhanced personal and product protection, and can be individually configured. This provides companies with the optimal solution to operate their cleanrooms and laboratories safely, efficiently, and in compliance with ISO standards.
